YCMEA HIGH HONOR BAND

The YCMEA Honor Band is a group of 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students selected by audition.

The auditions are held at Crane Middle School. There is a $5 audition fee.

Students are asked to prepare the two etudes on the audition sheet and memorize scales in the concert pitches of C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db and a one octave Chromatic scale. They will also be asked to sight-read a short selection at the audition.

If you have a student selected for this group, you will be required to be at every rehearsal. As a director of a participating honor band student, you will be required to rehearse the Honor Band music with each of your students who are selected. Please do not send them to rehearsals unprepared.

To enter students to audition for the Honor Band, please complete the online registration form by November 22, 2023 and submit the billing statement with audition payments. Students who make the ensemble will have a $25 participation fee in addition to the $5 audition fee . This covers tour costs, a lunch, and their t-shirt.

The rehearsal schedule will be released once the guest conductors have been selected.

Once students have been selected, please download the Festival of Excellence billing statement HERE. Print it, fill it out and send it to the address listed on the statement.
